Australia is the sixth largest
country in the world with the lowest population
density in the world - only two people per square
kilometers. Australia boasts over 7,000 beaches
- more than any other nation. Australian icon, the
kangaroo is unique to Australia and one of
Australian most easily recognized mammals. There are
more kangaroos in Australia now than when Australia
was first settled. Estimates suggest around 40 million.
Australia produces 95 per cent of the world's precious
opals and 99 per cent of black opals.
Spending Christmas at the beach
or skiing in August may seem strange but Australia's
seasons are the opposite of the northern hemisphere
- summer officially starts in December and winter
in June. But even in winter you'll enjoy blue skies
and warm, bright days.
Australia's climate and the fact that it is the
driest continent on earth makes it a fabulous
holiday destination all year round, whatever you're
planning to do.

Unique Australian:
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National
Park
This is the home of two of the most breathtaking unique
wonders in Australia. Uluru (Ayers Rock), one great
monolith rising 348 meters from the earth, and Kata
Tjuta (The Olgas), 36 red landforms clustered together
just 32 kilometers away. This land is more than a
magnificent sight, it is home to the Anangu Aboriginal
people
Sydney Opera House
Sydney Opera House, an extraordinary structure on
the harbor at Bennelong Point, is one of the world's
premier performing-arts centers. Opened in 1973, it
has taken its place among the world's most important
buildings.

Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island, near the tip of South Australia's
Fleurieu Peninsula, is Australia's third largest island.
Civilisation and wilderness meet there in harmony,
and sea lions, penguins, dolphins, koalas and kangaroos
live in a natural environment.
A coral wonderland
The Great Barrier Reef, more than 1,000 islands off
the far north coast of Queensland, offers more than
dazzling coral displays: there are pristine white
beaches, crystal blue water and warm, lazy days.
Pinnacles and Bungles
Western Australia's ancient land houses several unique
wonders including the Pinnacles - thousands of pointed
rock forms on a red desert expanse, and the Bungle
Bungles, a gold and black-striped range of landforms
Aboriginal Art
There is an enormous variety of authentic Aboriginal
art for sale or viewing. From traditional dot and
bark paintings, modern 'earth pigment' screen prints,
decorated jewellery and wood carvings, to boomerangs,
didgeridoos, weapons, ceramics, scarves, even compact
discs of traditional music. In whatever form it takes,
the art of this amazing civilisation should not be
missed on your visit.
The didgeridoo
Originated in the 'Top End' of Australia and is one
of the most popular items purchased by visitors. A
musical instrument, it is played in a similar way
to other wind instruments.
The boomerang
Boomerang-making is
an ancient craft that dates back around 10,000 years.
The boomerang functions as a throwing weapon used
mainly for hunting and fighting, or as a digging,
fire-making, ceremonial, or music-making tool.
